Legends Quest

Accept the challenge of the Legends Guild to map the Southern part of Karamja Island, make friends with the natives and bring back a prize to display in the Legends Guild Main Hall.

Instructions for quest:

  1. Talk to Erkle in Legends Guild. He will give you 3 tasks to complete which are: to complete a Map of the Jungle, make friends with the Natives, and bring a symbol from the Natives back to the guild.

     
  2. Search the cubboard next to Erkle. You will find a machete; take it.

     
  3. Head to south Karamja and stop by the Shilo village store. Buy 2 charcoal (you might need more because it can break while you draw), and 3 papyrus.

     
  4. Talk to the Forrester outside the jungle wall and he will tell you that if you show him something impressive, he will give you a "special item."

     
  5. You will see a jungle wall. With your hatchet and machete you cut through the jungle and trees to get into the inner jungle. Here it all begins.

     
  6. Start Mapping the area by moving east, to the middle and to the west. Click on the Scroll and click begin mapping. Start in the middle. If you fail, retry. Now map the eastern and western parts.

     
  7. Exit the jungle and show the map to the Forrester. He will be so impressed that he gives you a "Bull Roarer."

     
  8. Cut your way back into jungle and spin the Bull Roarer. A native named Gujuo will appear. When you tell him of your task he tells you you need to get a totem pole, and the seeds for the tree needed for the totem pole are held by a native man named Uguagadu. The entrance to the cave is North West in the jungle. There are three rocks in a triangle shape surrounded by palm trees.

     
  9. Search the rocks and climb down. You will see a guy trapped in an octagon-shaped flame wall. There is also a crude bed in here in case you need to rest.

     
  10. Investigate the flames and then talk to Uguaguadu. He will tell you that only holy water will douse the flames, though most of what he says is gibberish. For the holy water, you must go back up.

     
  11. Walk around the area and you will find a holy pool of water. When you investigate water or spin the Bull Roarer Gujuo will appear again. He will tell you that only a vessel made of 'metal of the sun' will hold the water. The metal of the sun is of course gold, and he gives you a sketch of the bowl. Now go get two gold bars and smith them into the bowl. When you do this, make sure you have the drawing and a hammer on you. Return to the jungle and Bull Roar for Gujuo. Here you both will begin in some funny chanting "ooooohhhhhhhhhmmmmm." The bowl is now blessed and can be filled.

     
  12. To retrieve the water, return to the sacred pool. Use the machette with a reed, then use the reed with the pool. The water will then fill up your bowl.

     
  13. Return to the cavern and douse the flames with your water and step in. Then talk to the man and you will discover there is something very wrong with him. Search his desk and you will find the Shamans Tome. Read it, though it isn't really important.

     
  14. Douse the flames again and exit the octagon. Now search the bookcase and enter the gaping hole.

     
  15. Use a lockpick to unlock the door. Proceed to smash the boulders with your pickaxe.

     
  16. Move on to the big gate. Use your strength to push it open and enter into the Death Wings cave (Level 80 bats). Keep moving forward and you will find a ruined wall. Jump over it.

     
  17. Now search the ancient wall and read the inscription. It tells of rocks you must put in the right order, which are of course runes. The order is Soul, Mind, Earth, then 2 Laws which spells SMELL. After you put them in, you can go through the wall.

     
  18. You now find yourself in a cave with pools and stalagmites in the pools. Place a gem on each stalagmite. There is NO EXACT ORDER. If the gem is right it will fit onto the rock. If it's wrong, nothing interesting happens. NOTE: You must do all 7 gems at once or nothing happens and you have to start over. After this, you will receieve the Book of Binding. It tells you that silverlight can help to defeat the demon, and some other info that doesn't mean much.

     
  19. Make your way back to the flame octagon. Go back inside it. Use your super pots now and make sure you have silverlight equipped. THE DEMON REDUCES PRAYER. Mine went from 53 to 13. You can still use prayer to defeat him. Super pots would be your best bet though. When you are prepared, use the Book of Binding with Uguaguadu and the demon appears. Good luck. When he is defeated, Uguaguadu will give you Yommi seeds to plant to make the totem pole.

     
  20. When you go back into the jungle, you realize the pool is filled with mirky water and you can't use it! Bull Roar for Gujou. He tells you evil spirits are at work and that you must go deeper in the caverns to see what is wrong with the water. To go deeper, you must make a "Gujuo Potion" which is a potion that makes you brave enough to enter in the deep caves. Ingredients are Snake Weed and Adrigal. Snake weed can be found southwest of Tai village in a redvine, and Adrigal can be found to the east of the Gnome Flyer in a palm tree.

     
  21. While you are on the surface, charge your prayer. Also get an uncharged orb and charge orb spell runes. It doesnt matter which spell, you only need to cast one. Get a rope as well. Also bring lots of food.

    Mix the potion together and head back down to the pool area where you placed the gems on the rocks. Cast the charge orb spell on the gate. NOTE: If you have to leave and need to re-enter, you will have to cast the spell again. Enter the room and use your rope on the wooden beam. If you forgot a rope, you can smash barrels in the room, though monsters will attack you that emerge from the barrels. Again, if you need to leave, when you return the rope will still be there. Drink your potion of Gujuo, then descend into the dark. You are now on a set of stairs. Pick up the wizard hat lying there and a creature named Vyvaldi will appear and tell you of how you will have to fight your way through the cave. Climb down that stairwell (be warned of hard damage hit if you fall, it hit a 39 on me a few times!) and you will see spirits of fallen warriors (floating shields and swords). You will have to beat the level 120, 125, and 130. They are aggressive, but only attack you one time. They will each drop a piece of a heart crystal. You can then smelt these together at the "Lava Furnace" in the northeastern part of the area by a lava pool. When you have the heart crystal, move back toward the level 130 spirits. Here you will see some brown rocks. Use the heart stone with it and it will begin to glow. You can now use the stone with the cave to the south of the 130s. You can now enter the cave.

     
  22. In the cave are a few lesser demons. Run past them and you will see a large boulder. "Move Stone" and a ghost will appear. Agree to help him kill Vyveldi so that you can use the pure water. Remember that Vyveldi was the man with the blue wizard hat at the top of the dangerous stairs. Go back up the stairs and equip the black dagger. Attack him and the dagger will begin to glow. Head back to the large boulder where you agreed to kill Vyveldi. .

     
  23. Here is where it gets difficult. Pot up and equip your silverlight. The same level 172 demon will attack you. DO NOT RUN OR HE HEALS. All of your prayer is drained so no paralyze either. Best of luck to you. Beat him down and move the rock. Walk to the pool and collect some water into your golden bowl.

     
  24. Head back up to the jungle. Use the water with your seeds to germinate them, then go back to the pool and use a reed to fill bowl again. Find a patch of "Fertile Earth" and use a seed with it. A tree will begin to grow. Water the tree and it will grow larger. Now here you have to act fast. Use your Rune hatchet (only a rune hatchet will work) with the tree to cut it down, then use the hatchet to trim the tree. Do it one more time to carve the pole. Do all of this fast because the tree rots. If you fail all 3 times, return to Uguaguadu and he will give you more seeds. You will then have made the Totem Pole!

     
  25. There is a dark totem pole near the far eastern side of the jungle. Before you do anything, make sure that your prayer is full. Now move towards the dark totem pole. Drink your super pots up. Use your totem pole with the dark one and the same level 172 demon will appear. You will now have to fight the level 120 and 125 spirits from the cave. After they are gone, it's the final showdown with the level 172. Switch to silverlight right before you are attacked. If you run from any of these monsters, they will dissapear and you have to fight them ALL OVER AGAIN. You CAN use paralyze on these spirits and the level 172 this time, so it's a bit easier. After you have vanquished your enemies, use your totem pole with the dark one again.

     
  26. Go back to the sacred pool and bull roar for Gujuo one last time. He will give you a Gilded Totem pole and gives you some words of friendliness.

     
  27. Now walk or teleport back to the Legends guild and use your totem pole with Erkle. He will tell you to meet him in the guild hall. You can now enter the guild. Talk to Erkle and he will tell you that he will train you in 4 areas of your choice. After you have decided which 4 skills to raise, you will have completed Legends Quest!!
